Understanding the Controls▼
  • Key Selector: Changes the root note. Everything on the board updates relative to this note.
  • View Mode: Switch between "All Notes" (Chromatic), "Scales" (Theory focused), and "Chords" (CAGED shapes).
  • Tunings: Select from standard, Drop D, DADGAD, and more. The engine recalculates the math for you.

The CAGED System Explained▼

The CAGED system connects the 5 open chord shapes (C, A, G, E, D) to map out the entire fretboard. By selecting View Mode: Chords, you can see these shapes interlocking. This allows you to play the same chord in 5 different positions up the neck.

Alternate Tunings & Capo Tool▼

Changing your tuning physically changes the intervals between strings. Our engine handles this logic. If you use a Capo, select the fret number to see the "effective" pitch of the notes, helping you transpose songs on the fly.
